Preserving Our Water's Story – All Water Has a Perfect Memory Exhibit

Overview

I was approached by the Elizabeth River Project to create a logo and brochure for their exhibit, “All Water Has a Perfect Memory.”

Goals

A logo that ties perfectly with a brochure that displays the space and information about the exhibit.

Skills

  • Visual Identity

  • Adobe Illustrator

  • Adobe Photoshop

  • Cyanotype

Challenges

When creating this brochure, I encountered challenges in ensuring effective communication of the exhibit's purpose, goals, and key information. I had to balance the inclusion of information, images, and graphics within the brochure format.

The Logo

The concept behind the logo initially aimed to emulate layers of water, which eventually evolved into a circular form symbolizing water returning to its source.

The Poster

The Elizabeth River Project wanted the backside of the brochure to be a poster. As part of the process, I made a cyanotype.

The Brochure

The exhibit’s key highlights, including its mission, featured installations, and the environmental impact of the Elizabeth River, are outlined using easy-to-read fonts and thoughtful imagery. A detailed map showcases the exhibit’s layout, allowing visitors to navigate through the space effortlessly.

Conclusion

The exhibit focused on the concept that Water Has a Perfect Memory, featuring artwork intended to inspire viewers to support the Elizabeth River Project. In designing the brochure, logo, and poster, I drew insights to effectively guide viewers. Using a cyanotype for the poster was successful because of its water-based printing. Additionally, I learned how to create a brochure that effectively conveys the message about water's perfect memory. I am proud to have contributed to this important cause.
